The puppy playground

The puppies have a play yard outside their sleeping area they have access to most of the day. Here, they have a variety of toys to play with, objects to explore and surfaces to walk on.

Their playground includes a slide, a tunnel, a seesaw, a large wooden barn door, a tire and a wavy slide. This space gives them an opportunity to develop their muscles, enrich their minds and give them confidence as they are presented with new items and new challenges regularly. They have lots of playtime outside their play area, as well, but this space gives them a safe place to learn and explore even when we cannot watch them closely.

In this video, you'll see Fwirl take on the smaller slide and a little set back does not discourage her at all.

Puppylog house-breaking

House-breaking is one of the harder things to teach a puppy. We are doing a prehouse-breaking training. What you do is split your room in thirds. The first portion is the bed, the second portion is an area where the puppies can go potty like dirt,the third is a plain space where they can play! How this works is that a puppy doesn't like to play or sleep in their own waste so they go in the dirt. Now this doesn't house-break them it only makes it easier to do so because they will prefer dirt to your floor!

Puppies Are Moving!!!

While I was patting my dog on the stomach I thought I felt a little movement so I patted again (not sure if it was a puppy or not) and YES! There was a movement! I turned around and told my sisters (who where playing a game behind me). They ran outside screaming and shouting "Faithfull's puppies are moving! Faithfull's puppies are moving!" Everyone came in wanting to feel her puppies and after all that I can't even get one little squirm out of them! I guess they all got tired and went to sleep!

August 27th 2012 Second Litter Puppy Watch Day One

I have set up my sleeping Quarters. This year I get a bed! It is only a baby mattress but it is more than last year so I can't complain! I will be taking Faithfull's temp three times a day: 8:30AM 1:00PM and 8:00PM how FUN! When her temp consistently stays at 98 ºf her puppies can come in the next 24 hours!

Today's temps were noon 100.5 night 100.6 I could not take her morning temp because I was not here.
